Tegen de Zee is inspired by the people of Schokland’s struggles against the sea over the years. In this piece, I use the map of Schokland as a point of structure and intensity of this piece capturing serene environment of the village and flow of the sea. I also explore the vibrato and stereo effects of the accordion to highlight the idiomatic qualities of the instrument.
